What's the idea behind MicroPlaza?

We wanted a way to discover relevant and interesting items from the people we follow on Twitter. Most of the time something interesting is a link shared by a friend or colleague. So we built MicroPlaza to deliver us the filtered links from our Twitter timelines. It's our discovery engine, our personal newswire and just so god damn addictive!

Who's behind MicroPlaza?

MicroPlaza has been developed by the smart guys behind Knowledge Plaza.

What does MicroPlaza do?

MicroPlaza looks at your Twitter network and displays all the links shared by the people you follow with associated tweets. We call these tiles.

MicroPlaza only looks at public timelines and tweets, not direct messages or protected accounts

Why do you call them tiles?

Two reasons really. First, we might include sources other than Twitter in the future and want a generic name for a shared item. Second, our enterprise product Knowledge Plaza uses the same terminology.

I can see tweets from people I don't follow when looking at a tile, why?

When someone shares a link on Twitter we are able to show everyone else who shared the link as well. We think it's more interesting to see everyone's tweet in relation to a link rather than just your network.

How can I tell which tweet was from someone I follow?

When you expand a tile you will see a black box around the picture of the people you follow.

What is 'Being Someone'?

When you are 'being someone' you see all the links shared in his or her network. So imagine you know that Mr T has a really good network on global warming, you can be Mr T in MicroPlaza to benefit from the discovery power of his network. Alternatively you can switch the view to show just the items shared by the actual user.

What are Tribes?

Tribes are like groups. You add people to Tribes so you can view the items they collectively share. Maybe you'll have a tribe for the people you follow who work at your company, or maybe just the people who share stuff on a certain topic. It's a filter.

How does search work?

Twitter provides people the means to discover real-time news and information through their network. Search now allows people to search for the most popular and freshest of these tiles on a particular topic. Try for example "enterprise 2.0" or "url:news.bbc.co.uk". You can even monitor the appearance of new tiles through your rss reader.

Can I export the things I bookmark in MicroPlaza?

Give it time my friend, this feature is on the way.
